EQUIPBPO holds Awareness Training on Information Security, Quality and Health and Safety Standards

ASSIST and TÜV Rheinland, partners under the EQUIPBPO (Enhanced QUality and Information security Program for Businesses and Professionals in the Outsourcing sector), conducted an awareness training on the ISO 9001:2008, ISO 27001:2005, and Occupational Health & Safety Advisory Services (OHSAS) last February 28 to March 2, 2011 at the TÜV Rheinland in Makati City.

ISO 9001:2008 is the most widely recognized international standard for Quality Management, which provides guidance for documentation requirements for an effective quality management system. The course introduced the basic principles of Quality Management and ways through which organizations can control and continuously improve product quality and/or service performance.

Meanwhile, ISO 27001 is a set of guidelines for Information Security System, which is necessary to help protect critical business activities and processes in times of disasters and catastrophes. The EQUIPBPO project team helped the participants understand, assess and address the Information Security Risks within their organization.

Finally, the training covered the basics of and the international best practices on health and safety, based on the OHSAS 18001 standard. Participants learned steps for Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments, as well as risk mitigation measures.

The course was facilitated by Raj Kumar, a Senior Process Consultant from the Environmental Compliance Consultants International (ECCI) with extensive experience and exposure on Information Security and Quality Management Systems, Vulnerability assessments, Business Continuity Management and Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). Raj has been trained and certified on many modalities including but not limited to Ethical Hacking, ISO Family of Standards and IT Service Continuity Management.
