ASSIST facilitates the GREEN IT and CDSS Training Program

As part of the SHIFT Indonesia Project, Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) Project and Grants Management Unit led the GREEN IT and Certified Data Security Specialist (CDSS) Training Program in Bandung, Indonesia last April 16 and April 17-19, respectively.

 

Information Technology (IT) specialists from Telkom subsidiaries participated in the two training programs. The attendees were selected from the earlier 3-day technical training program on ISMS and PCI DSS to ensure that they already have sufficient background and technical experience needed for implementing the standards and conduct echo trainings.

At the first event, participants were introduced to the concept of the Green IT as well as the business benefits of adopting it as a strategy. The CDSS Training Program, on the other hand, provided the participants with knowledge on how to develop and certify local trainers on data security, emphasizing on competency enhancement of IT professionals on requirements for complying with ISO 27001 and PCI DSS standards.

Moreover, Mr. Kamesh Ganeson, ASSIST’s Partnerships and Network Management served as the speaker for the Green IT event while Ms. Daksha Malli, Team Leader for Compliance, Institute for Information Security (IIS) led the discussion on the CDSS Training Program.

In the long run, the CDSS training program aims to enhance the sustainability of the

SHIFT Indonesia project by developing local capacity on international standards on information security.

Meanwhile, the Green IT training is an additional training (not part of commitments / project indicators) introduced by ASSIST and PT TUV Rheinland Indonesia to introduce the latest initiatives on making IT industries environmentally-responsible.

The two trainings wrap up the activities for the Project SHIFT Indonesia. In May, the project leaders are planning to hold the Best Practice Forum.

SHIFT Indonesia is a PPP that aims to qualify and ensure compliance of merchants and other service providers with international security standards, norms and procedures, especially PCI DSS and ISO 27001.

The initiative is supported by German development bank DEG. #





SHIFT Indonesia holds mock audit of pilot companies

ASSIST and PT TUV Rheinland Indonesia conducted a mock audit of pilot companies on ISO 27001:2005 for the SHielding Income and Financial Transactions (SHIFT) Indonesia Project last November 28 to 30, 2011 in Jakarta and Bandung.

Designed to ensure that the client is prepared for the certification/ external auditing, the audit followed the principles of Adequacy, Compliance and Effectiveness of the management system in three major aspects: Awareness of People, Effectiveness of Implementation and adequacy of processes.

After the mock audit, the Project Team produced a report includes findings, recommendations and inputs for the corrective/preventive actions to be taken.

The activity marked the end of the project’s third (Implement) phase which involves the provision of technical assistance Phase.

ASSIST Technical Consultant Raja Kumar conducted the audit for three out of seven participating companies – all subsidiaries of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia,. His report reveals that the pilot companies showed no major non-conformance, and stated that after implementing corrective actions, they are ready for certification.

ASSIST and TUV Rheinland launch training on ISMS and PCI DSS for SHIFT Indonesia Project

Under the DEG-funded SHielding Income and Financial Transactions (SHIFT) Indonesia project, the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) helped launch the third batch of Technical Training on Information Security Management System (ISMS) and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) in Bandung, Indonesia last September 27 to 29, 2011.

Led by ASSIST Technical Consultant Raja Kumar, the training equipped participants with technical knowledge of the standards, including implementation requirements for ISMS and PCI DSS.

The activity was participated in by representatives of the seven (7) subsidiaries of the PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk, a state-owned enterprise (“SOE”) and the largest telecommunication and network services provider in Indonesia.

Serving millions of customers nationwide, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia provides a strong portfolio of information and communication services, including fixed wireline and fixed wireless telephone, mobile cellular, data and internet, and network and interconnection services.

After the training, the companies will undergo audits and eventual certification for ISMS from TUV Rheinland Indonesia. #
